Crotons usually top out at a couple of feet when grown indoors, however they can reach several feet in height. I’ve seen them as large bushes and as small trees out in the wild.
The more sun your croton receives, the brighter colors you will have in the leaves. They do very well under artificial lights and in dark rooms of your home. They will happily grow under any light condition.
Crotons should not be allowed to dry out. Keep them moist, but don’t leave them sitting in water. They are pretty sturdy houseplants so don’t fret over the watering too much. They prefer high humidity, so bathrooms and kitchens are great locations for these plants.
They are tropical and are unhappy with temperatures less than 60′ so keep them away from drafty windows and doors if you live in a cold climate.
If they are unhappy they will shed their bottoms leaves. Usually this is from low humidity or cold. Try putting the plant in a bathroom where lots of showers get taken, or near your kitchen sink.
Pinch them back from time to time otherwise you’ll have lots of stems with leaves only on the ends of the branches.
Crotons are toxic, don’t eat them.
